Nikki here your health & wellness guide. I love supporting women and families in their journey to becoming healthy and staying healthy. We all recognize the struggle today to be healthy. It's almost as if we're in the dark ages of poor foods masquerading as kingliness. There is such an abundance of "food" like substances we easily cringe at the actual foods that would nourish our body and keep us healthy.
So this leave us on a path of beginnings, where and how can we choose to live healthy but also stay committed to nourishing our bodies everyday.
One area I find fascinating is the classic traditions set forth from holiday events. The family gathers, maybe the school creates the even or the church lures you in with the sweets, meats and overflow of dishes. Personally this continues to be the struggle of being creative and also nutritious.
So how can we navigate the holidays but also stay true to what we desire deeply for our bodies, real food.
First, we start with what we are already enjoying everyday. What is the simple and easy go to that you most enjoy. What we are familiar with we can become a master at creating. The master that creates brings love into the meal and that my friend does not come from the freezer section or out of the microwave.
Second, we enhance that everyday dish by bringing in the senses is a missing piece in the fast food and ready made choices at the grocery store. When I attend a party it's the dishes with vibrant colors, enticing smells and enhanced flavors that are the highlight of the party.
These types of dishes that create an experience are the ones that people are drooling over and talking about for days after. Does it take a lot of imagination or work? With social media at our figure tips there is no reason why creating dishes of the senses shouldn't be on your radar.
Last, when we desire our meals to nourish us, bring us health, we need to remember that intentional eating is the foundation. Adding the dishes we love each day with the connection of others fills a deep desire to be seen, fulfilled and acknowledged. When we choose to stop at the store in a rush to the party grabbing whatever we feel fits our budget in the moment we are bringing with us a scarcity mindset, a rushed and disconnected energy. The "food" may taste ok and its something to add to the plate but it is not remembered and there are usually leftovers that you may or may not feel obligated to bring back home.
